Rhumb Runner's Host Back to the Beach Interclub

By Lezlee Kramer, Racing Chair Rhumb Runners

We had another beautiful Race Day in Paradise for the FWSA Interclub hosted by the Rhumb Runners at BCYC on Monday, March 23rd.  Competitors from Dunedin to Tampa to Venice competed in Sunfish sailboats.

Ten sailors enjoyed the mid 70’s temperatures.  We were a little concerned early when the breeze was 2-3 knots, but then it filled in nicely around the start time of the race to 6-8 knots.  An excellent course was set and adjusted by our PRO Jen Paramore.  Her entire Race Committee and mark boat worked well to ensure an enjoyable race that ran smoothly.  The broad smiles on the racer's faces when they returned to shore told the whole story.  The top results were:

L-R Rhumb Runners Lezlee Kramer, Bitter Ends Ann Carroll, 3rd place, Windlasses Connie Raney, 2nd place, Windlasses Chris Kelley, 1st place, Luffing Lassie Sandy Gerber, newest sailor with lowest score.

As with any event, it takes a Village.  Many thanks to the volunteers who gave their time to make this event successful:

Our Rhumb Runner Team: Ellen Alexander, Meg Banitch, Suzanne Boohar, Janet Kreutzer, Sharl Turner, Sheri Ogorek, Cathy Talisman, Lisa Glaser, and Ellen White.

Our PRO: Jen Paramore

And we couldn’t have done anything without the Boat Captains who donated their time and boats for the morning:

Dave & Karen Morgan – Committee Boat

Bob Dowling – Marks/ Safety Boat

Joel Heyne – s/v Windsong - Spectator Boat

And Fauss Hull who helped launch & retrieve on the beach.

I can’t thank everyone enough for helping me make today a success.  And I do understand there may be a little work for the Duh Flag Officer, too!
