2025 Crewed Boat Extravaganza "The Challenge"

FWSA is looking for ways to increase participation in our sailing events. The Championship race was created to provide our club sailors with the experience of crewed boat racing. The cost (insurance, boat rental, liability and security payments) to use crewed boats has become a detriment to participation. The Long Range Planning Committee questioned if the Championship should be held every year. Their rationale was the difficulty in acquiring host clubs and struggling to get enough crews together. FWSA has responded by changing “The Championship” to “The Challenge.” The goal is to provide an opportunity to sail/race crewed boats.

This year the Mainsheet Mamas have agreed to host “The Challenge.” The Mainsheet Mamas are a small club with limited resources to host an Interclub.

However, they are excited to contribute with a crewed boat event, not a championship race. They are creatively developing an extravaganza of different crewed boats to encourage all clubs to send representatives and have a fun crewed experience. Look for more information coming.
